Among the players released by the Eagles Saturday was Anthony Hargrove, cut for the first time in a football career that includes a Super Bowl championship with the New Orleans Saints.
The Eagles were loaded on the defensive line, and that made veteran tackles like Hargrove and Derek Landri expendable - for now.
"It was just
numbers,” Hargrove said. “This is a good team. I had a good opportunity here. They
told me, ‘give me a call at the end of the week and see what happens.’
“Hey, it’s not
over yet. It’s a long season.”
Privately a source confirmed Hargrove or Landri still could end up in the Eagles' plans.
