Reid intimates Peters could play in 2012
Don't count Peters out in 2012. |
One of the most striking comments furnished by the Eagles in the wake of the serious Achilles' tendon injury sustained by Jason Peters is that the Pro Bowl offensive tackle hasn't been ruled out of action this season.
And that's significant. Rewind to Terrell Owens' broken leg and the rehab job trainer Rick Burkholder did to get the eccentric wide receiver ready to play in Super Bowl XXXIX, and you cannot help but catch yourself saying, hmmmmm ...
Andy Reid suggested Peters - who undergoes surgery Tuesday - is on board with what could be a very aggressive rehab.
“He alerted Rick Burkholder and they quickly put together a plan of attack for
his evaluation, surgery and subsequent rehabilitation," Reid said. "“We all know how
much Jason loves to play the game and how much he was looking forward to the
start of the 2012 season. Jason is one of the best, if not the best, offensive
tackle in the NFL. We don’t know when he will return to the field and we will
not speculate on a timeline. We are just going to let the surgical process and
the rehabilitation process play itself out.”
