Thirty years ago this week the Delaware County Daily Times turned the newspaper business upside down with a bold, at times irreverent and oft-criticized makeover emphasizing hard news and sports.

The format changed from broad sheet to tabloid.

The price dropped from 35 cents to a dime.



Sports cast stepping up to the challenge including the Justin Bieber knockoff (lower right).

All of it was promoted in an advertising package starting with "The Dime Times."

It was a pleasure to be part of that major and exciting overhaul all but forgotten in the digital age.
