Source says Brandon Meriweather not on Eagles radar
The Eagles were interested in selecting safety Brandon Meriweather in the 2007 draft.
Wound up trading out of the first round and picking up quarterback Kevin Kolb early in the second round.
But for now an NFL source said the Eagles are passing on Meriweather, the two-time Pro Bowl player released Saturday by the New England Patriots.
Meriweather is coming off serious off-the-field issues and is a headhunter, his brutal hit on Todd Heap of the Baltimore Ravens infuriating his own head coach and resulting in a $50,000 fine.
