NFL fines Eagles DE Trent Cole
Forearm? I'll show you a forearm. |
The NFL fined Eagles’ defensive end Trent Cole $7,875 for unnecessary roughness after he landed a
forearm to the head of Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez last week at Lincoln Financial Field.
The official explanation
is Cole “unnecessarily struck an opponent in the neck area with his forearm.”
The event
occurred late in the Eagles’ 30-17 loss to the Falcons. Cole has been frustrated over the double-team and chip blocking opponents have given him. It’s been five games since Cole collected a full sack.
The NFL billed Gonzalez $7,875 for unnecessary roughness; i.e. grabbing an
opponent by the facemask. It was Cole’s facemask.
There was at
least one other fine in the game. Falcons linebacker Stephen Nicholas was
billed $10,000 for a late hit on Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin in the first
half.
