Assistants wanted him benched?

Head coach Andy Reid took umbrage with the portion of this report suggesting quarterback Michael Vick was paranoid Eagles assistant coaches wanted him benched.

"I don’t know where that would come from,” Reid said after practice Saturday. “That’s not the case. Everybody is on board with Michael and has been.”

Reid didn't commit to Vick immediately after the 30-17 loss last Sunday to the Falcons. Reid then heaped praise on Vick saying he is and will be the Eagles' starting quarterback.

On the injury front Eagles guard Danny Watkins (ankle) and wide receiver Mardy Gilyard have been ruled out of the Monday night game with the Saints (8:30, ESPN, PHL 17).

Safety Nate Allen (hamstring) will make the trip to New Orleans and is a game time decision according to Reid.

Defensive tackle Mike Patterson likely will be activated from the non-football injury list.
