End of the line for Hobbs

The Eagles put cornerback Ellis Hobbs on injured reserve.

While it’s still not been determined if Hobbs will need surgery to repair a disc in his neck, this could be the end of the line with the Eagles. Hobbs’ contract is up after this season.

The Eagles agreed to terms with cornerback Brandon Hughes, a product of the Giants, who will join the practice squad.

Hobbs was hurt returning the opening kickoff of the second half Sunday night. Slowed by a hip flexor, Hobbs lost his starting job to Dimitri Patterson, who has three interceptions.

Hobbs, who has one pick, missed the last nine games of the 2009 season after surgery on an injured disc.
