Clearing cap space for who, for what?

Free agent DT Jason Jones (6-5, 275) is heading for Seattle.
If nothing else, the Eagles positioned themselves to win another salary cap Super Bowl two years from now when the cap spikes.

Did it by extending Todd Herremans and Trent Cole, who on back-to-back days inked cap-friendly contracts.

But the Eagles rarely conduct business so predictably. There must be something they're angling for by clearing cap space, most recently by shipping Winston Justice to the Colts and cutting nine-year veteran Jamaal Jackson.

The Eagles have players they can trade (DeSean Jackson, Asante Samuel). They have money to extend a player they would trade for.

The Eagles can extend the contracts of DJax or running back LeSean McCoy.

It's just not clear what they're thinking about right now.
