|Steve Johnson signs with Broncos.|
Steven Johnson wasn't among the 253 players drafted the last three days.
But Johnson was encouraged enough by the interest shown by the Denver Broncos he signed a contract with them.
In a week Johnson reports to the team's rookie camp. Until then the Kansas University linebacker can catch up on old times with Chris Harris, his former Jayhawks teammate who made the Broncos as an undrafted nickel cornerback.
"It's a good situation," Johnson said. "At the same time I wanted to get drafted. It's nothing that I haven't worked through before. Now I'll have to do it again."
Johnson (6-0, 239) walked on at Kansas, eventually earning a scholarship. Last year he led the Big 12 Conference with 120 tackles. Six stops were for a loss.
Johnson also picked off a pass.
