Eagles sign Matt Ryan's center

Who knew how valuable Jason Kelce was?
The Eagles signed Matt Tennant, who centered for Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan at Boston College and released Steve Vallos, who wasn't allowed to play.

Tennant (6-4, 300) is a mauler-type pivot who played in 28 games with the Saints in 2010-11 but wasn't good enough for the Patriots, who cut him Saturday. If Dallas Reynolds fails to improve, Tennant could end up filling the gaping hole left by Jason Kelce, who tore his MCL and ACL.

Tennant was a three-year starter at Boston College,  moving into the starting lineup his sophomore year when quarterback Matt Ryan passed for 4,507 yards.

A fifth-round pick of the Saints in 2010, Tennant is a product of fabled Moeller High in Ohio and was a Rimington Award finalist in 2009.
