When Andy Reid decides it's time, how about ...

Unless the Eagles start winning fast it's tough to image Andy Reid forcing himself on ownership any longer. With eight straight games against teams with losing records, that certainly could happen.

Face it, unless  Big Red unfurls his strongest finish there's going to be talk about his successor. Naturally the news that suspended Saints head coach Sean Payton kicks off the first wave of candidates who could  be appealing.

Payton was born in Illinois but celebrated back-to-back Flyers Stanley Cup titles in the mid-1970s with his pals at the corner of Sproul Road and West Chester Pike in Newtown Square. He attended Paxon Hollow Junior High and played youth football in Marple. Payton still has family in Pennsylvania. He worked as quarterbacks coach of the Eagles when Jon Gruden was offensive coordinator. Payton led the Saints to a Super Bowl. He also was suspended for this season because of his role, or lack thereof, in Bountygate.

Here's another football fan's suggestion - the guy at Penn State.
