Barnett, Williams love Kelly offense

Kelly talking about his spread offense.

Eagles honorary captains Fred Barnett and Calvin Williams are unabashed fans of Chip Kelly’s offense.

Had the up-tempo spread scheme been around back in their days, the duo that came into their own with the Eagles in the early 1990’s wouldn’t be able to wipe the smiles off their faces.

“If I played in this type of offense I’d be bragging every week,” Barnett said before the Eagles opposed the Detroit Lions at snowy Lincoln Financial Field. “They put the ball in the air a lot and that’s conducive to someone who wants the ball. I was that guy who wanted the ball.”

“It’s a receiver’s dream,” Williams said. “You get the ball and make plays. You’ve got a quarterback who can make plays. It’s about getting in and doing what you can do.”
