McBriar coming off knee surgery

McBriar with a textbook follow-through.
The Eagles announced they've agreed to terms with Mat McBriar on a one-year contract. They have until 4 p.m. to waive a player to make room on the roster.

The 33-year-old Australian earned two Pro Bowl selections in eight years with the  Cowboys.  He's averaged 45.3 yards in his career, fourth in NFL history.

McBriar wasn't re-signed by the Cowboys partly because they appeared unsure how he would rebound from surgery to remove a cyst from his behind his left knee, according to reports.

If healthy McBriar is a tiger. His career net average is 38.4 yards. He's dropped 175 punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line, an average of 22 per season.

Eagles incumbent Chas Henry averaged 42.9 yards per punt last season with a net average of 36.9 yards. He dropped 19 points inside the 20 of Eagles opponents.
