Nick Foles and Forrest Gump

SI cover this week.
Maybe it's me but Eagles quarterback Nick Foles is so unassuming he reminds me a of a fictional movie character.

Not Napoleon Dynamite.

No, I'm thinking Forrest Gump. You do remember the incredible athletic feats he performed in the 1994 movie starring Tom Hanks, don't you? Click here.

Gump had a way of drifting in and out of history so selflessly he didn't even realize the significance of it.

It's the same way with Foles. You would never know the game jersey and spikes he wore tying the single-game NFL record with seven touchdown passes were in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. You would never know Foles was the NFC offensive player of the month in November.

And you would never know Foles took the starting quarterback job from Michael Vick. That's a good teammate. That's the guy who's on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week. (Gump was on a mythical SI cover, by the way.)

More in the Thursday edition of the Delaware County Daily Times.
