Breaking: Sanchez to start against Lions

The Eagles' plan is to start Mark Sanchez, for the second straight week, today in Detroit against the Lions according to NFL Network reporter Albert Breer.
Sam Bradford ... Maybe next week.

The Eagles still could dress Bradford as the backup quarterback but intend to go with Sanchez.

Bradford was sidelined last week with a concussion and an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. Having cleared the NFL's concussion protocol, he said the shoulder is the issue.

The Eagles (4-6) have lost two straight games and three of their last four. They're 6-0 on Thanksgiving.

The Lions (3-7) have won two straight games.

Bradford questionable; Eagles-Rams in London?

Sam Bradford and his banged-up shoulder are questionable on the official Eagles injury report, inching the quarterback closer to returning to action Thursday.
We're playing, where?

Questionable is a lot closer than out, which is how the Eagles listed  tight end Zach Ertz and running back Ryan Mathews for their Thanksgiving game against the Detro
it Lions at Ford Field (12:30 p.m., Channel 29, WIP 94.1-FM, WBCB 1490-AM). That duo hasn’t
passed the concussion protocol. It’s the second straight week Mathews will be scratched.

Center Jason Kelce (knee) and offensive tackle Jason Peters (back) questionable for the Lions. In other words, it’s Bradford and his bum non-throwing shoulder behind a line with a hobbled center and left tackle, or possibly backup Julian Vandervelde at center. Lions pass rusher Ziggy Ansah, who ranks among the league leaders with 8 sacks, will take those matchups any Thanksgiving.

Believe Bradford will start when you see it.

Thad Lewis backed up Mark Sanchez last week. And no, Lewis didn’t wonder why the coaches failed to call his number while Sanchez was playign catch with the Buccaneers, Sanchez threw three interceptions, including a pick-six he blamed on teammate Darren Sproles.

“No, I never really think like that,” Lewis said. “You just play your role. Obviously you want anybody on this whole team to do good. When you’re 4-6, I mean it’s easy to point the finger but that’s not the sign of a real team. We’re going to win together, we’re going to lose together and we’re going to continue to stay close and fight this thing through. So that’s what you’ve got to do.”

On another front, this may be difficult to fathom, but Eagles Nation and the E-A-G-L-E-S cheer could wind up supporting its team on in London next year.

The St. Louis Rams definitely are in one of the three scheduled London games. If the Eagles finish in the same spot in their division as the Rams do in theirs – based on applicable tiebreakers – the Birds are in, mate.

The game will be the first played at Twickenham Stadium. Surely, Chip Kelly will welcome those changes in the work schedule.

Cheerio.

Fox's Kristina Pink, Eagles-Bucs connections

Fox broadcasts the Eagles-Buccaneers game today with long-time play-by-play man Dick Stockton, analyst David Diehl and sideline reporter Kristina Pink.
Kristina Pink ... sideline reporter Sunday.

Diehl played guard and tackle for the Giants from 2003-13.

The game also is a reunion for several players and team executives.

Eagles cornerback E.J. Biggers and linebacker Najee Goode palyed for the Bucs as recently as the 2012 season.

Bucs general manager Jason Licht worked for the Eagles from 2003-07 in personnel before exiting. Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier coached the Eagles defensive backs from 1999-2002, which basically was one of the golden ages for the secondary.

Also Bucs wide receiver Russell Shepard signed with the Eagles as an undrafted rookie in 2013.
