Nick Foles 'doing good,' return near

You haven't seen the last of Nick Foles this season.
Sanchez showing how he'll hold off Foles to keep starting job.

A source confirmed that Foles is "doing good" in his comeback from a cracked collarbone.

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly, who enjoys blowing off injury questions, conceded that Foles was one healing X-ray or so away from being relevant again.

"Yeah, he’s supposed to have a follow-up, I don’t know if it’s this week or next," Kelly said Monday. "I know he’s working extremely hard from a rehab standpoint. The whole decision will be made based upon what the bone is. He’ll get that X-ray at some point."

Look for something positive to happen with Foles within two weeks. That's when Kelly has a decision to make about his starting quarterback - if, of course he hasn't made one already.

Gardner starts at right guard

Andrew Gardner gets the nod at right guard today for the Eagles, although Matt Tobin, who sustained a concussion at the position last week, is active.
Didn't Jason Kelce have a hernia?

The Eagles deactivated quarterback Nick Foles (collarbone), defensive back Jaylen Watkins, offensive linemen Dennis Kelly and Julian Vandervelde, wide receiver Jeff Maehl and defensive end Taylor Hart.

Foles should be a full-go after bone heals

Quarterback Nick Foles is training to pick up where he left off after his cracked collarbone heals.

Head coach Chip Kelly wouldn't give a timetable for when that would be. It will be three weeks this weekend since Foles was tossed on his non-throwing shoulder by Whitney Mercilus of the Texans.
Nick Foles misses the game ... probably the podium, too.
But it sure seems like Foles is being fast-tracked.

"All he is right now is what can I do to get this better?" Kelly said before practice Thursday. "He's working extremely hard with our strength and conditioning coach in terms of training so when he gets healed, when the bone gets healed and he gets cleared to play then he'll be in shape to play. It's not going to be one of those, 'OK now I'm cleared, now I need two or three weeks to get up to speed because I haven't really done anything.' He's working his tail off. He's had workouts. Last week he worked out at the hotel. He worked out at the stadium when we were up in Green Bay. He's working extremely hard from that aspect and he's been great.

"I know he's disappointed because he's a competitor and he wants to play but he also knows the reality of it. Until the bone heals there's nothing he can really do about that."

The timetable for a cracked collarbone typically is 4-to-6 weeks. It varies with every person.

Wolff on IR; Roc Carmichael signed

Eagles defensive coordinator Billy Davis contemplated making a change for Bradley Fletcher,  lit up in the first half by the Packers.
Sticking with Bradley Fletcher.

“He had a bad start. It wasn’t going well,” Davis said. “A lot of corners have a lot of outs. They don’t keep fighting and battling. I’ve got a lot of respect for Fletch and how he responded. I was watching him close. Wait one more, what do I do, do I make a move? And you watched him come out and play in the second half. He made those same plays that beat him in the first. He was on it and played the ball. His press was better. He got better and fought through it. And he’s a mentally tough human being. I was very impressed with the way he played.”
Still the starting cornerback.

Davis said Fletcher “absolutely” remains the starter as the Eagles prepare to entertain rookie quarterback Zack

Mettenberger and the Tennessee Titans (2-8) this Sunday.

Fletcher, 28, has started 15 straight games, including all 10 this season. He’s contributed 42 tackles, 16 pass breakups, one interception and one forced fumble. Fletcher returned the pick 34 yards for a touchdown.

The most viable options to replace Fletcher would be Nolan Carroll, a prime player in the dime defense and rookie Jaylen Watkins, a weekly scratch.
