Eagles agree to terms with Barkley

Rookie is 99.9 percent in the fold.
The Eagles and quarterback Matt Barkley reached terms on a four-year contract Thursday.

Lane Johnson, the first-round pick out of Oklahoma, is the last of the team's eight draft picks who hasn't signed or agreed to terms.

Barkley (6-2, 227) is a fourth-round pick out of USC,  where he exited as  the all-time leading asser in school and Pac-12 Conference history. The four-year starter amassed over  12,000 passing yards and is the first player in the conference to throw for 100 our more touchdowns, having garnered 116 in all.

DeSean Jackson says Eagles need to know who their starting quarterback is

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson was asked which quarterback has the advantage in Chip Kelly's competition for the starting job.

Eagles' offices getting a makeover, too. Hopefully this wall fills up soon.

Veteran Michael Vick and Nick Foles, in his second NFL season, have split the starting snaps in the noncontact practices.

“So far, I don’t know, it has been kind of even," Jackson said on the NFL Network. "Vick and Foles have been switching off first team and second team. So it is the same thing with them.

"I have been hearing some things about Vick saying that he wants to know. At the same time, the team wants to know, too. We need to go into training camp prepared and know who is going to be our starting quarterback. Whether it is Foles or Vick, I think they would both do a great job and we will be ready for the season."

Kelly has said he wants to see what the quarterbacks do in shoulder pads before making a decision. That won't happen until training camp begins July 25.

Stadium project might bring SB to Philly

Now they decide to do renovations?
It's what Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie does, not what he says that's important.

And he's putting a lot of money into upgrades at Lincoln Financial, the subject of a piece in the Sunday edition of the Delaware County Daily Times.

Sure, Lurie said he would put in a bid to host an upcoming Super Bowl providing the New York Giants stick the landing in Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium.

Now it looks like he may be putting his money where his mouth is.

One more pick down, two to go for Eagles

Defensive lineman Bennie Logan signed a four-year deal with the Eagles Thursday leaving only offensive tackle Lane Johnson and quarterback Matt Barkley unsigned.
Now No. 96.

Logan is a third-round pick out of LSU.

Johnson is the Eagles' first-round pick, Barkley their fourth-rounder.

Jason Peters to 'hang helmet up' if he can't play at high level

Under immense pressure in comeback.
Eagles left offensive tackle Jason Peters sounds motivated to prove the Achilles' tendon he tore twice  before last season won't prevent him from returning to Pro Bowl form.

"The injury didn't set me back at all," Peters said Tuesday. "I'm out there and I am going to play just like I have been playing. ... If not, I'll just hang the helmet up."

Click here for the piece by Jack McCaffery.

That said it's hard to believe Peters would walk away from football if he doesn't come all the way back from those unfortunate injuries. It's not like Jay-Z and Roc Nation are on his trail.

It's going to be a huge challenge for Peters and his line mates just to keep up when the Chip Kelly goes "tempo," or warp speed. It's always going to to be difficult getting all of the offensive linemen on the same page in basically one training camp, a few preseason games and a couple of days of work with the Patriots.

Nick Foles cheers on Arizona ruggers at PPL

Foles in Arizona colors (Chris Vito).
Nick Foles should have brought Michael Vick along on his visit to PPL Park Saturday to watch alma mater Arizona play in the USA 7s Collegiate Rugby Championships.

Vick cannot seem to develop a knack for protecting himself on those chronic scrambles outside the pocket.

In Chip Kelly's offense, Vick could be lifting off more frequently than during the Andy Reid era, which was so difficult physically the quarterback frequently found himself in the trainers room.

At the least Vick could have watched the technique involved when rugby players slide into the end zone and touch the ball down, or ground it. Definitely an art.
