Kafka, Harbor sign; 4 picks to go
Kafka is the No. 3 quarterback behind starter Kevin Kolb and backup Michael Vick. Coaches felt Kafka (6-3, 225), the product of Northwestern, got a little bit better with each practice in the offseason. He was particularly effective in the red zone, where he routinely outperformed Vick.
Harbor (6-2, 252) faces an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster at tight end. The Missouri State product has had a difficult time learning the offense.

Rookie Nate Allen earns starting FS job; Mikell has sprained MCL
Veteran strong safety Quintin Mikell, though, has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
Reid nonetheless expects Mikell, guard Todd Herremans (sore foot), middle linebacker Stewart Bradley (strained calf) and rookie wide receiver Riley Cooper (strained hamstring) to be healthy for the first fullstart of training cam-squad practice of training camp on July 29th.
Defensive end Victor Abiamiri (knee) and center Jamaal Jackson (knee) likely won't be cleared to practice according to the head coach.

Becht camp only weeks away
Go to http://www.anthonybechtfootballcamp.com/.
To player the Becht-Bonner Golf Classic June 22nd at Waynseborough call Tom Millison (484-557-8143), Tom Wickersham (610-248-1987) or Pat McKenna (610-389-4105).
Mikell joins casualty list
Rookie wide receiver Riley Cooper (hamstring) didn't practice at all.
Coming off a Lisfranc sprain, veteran linebacker Omar Gaither took the day off rather than risk his health on the FieldTurf indoor surface.
But wide receiver Jeremy Maclin returned to practice after missing the previous day with a tight hamstring.
Eagles unoffiical alumni day
Vermeil, his receivers Mike Quick and Harold Carmichael, and former line coach Ken Iman, of Springfield all are gathered together.
Former Eagles scout Bobby DePaul, released by the Chicago Bears, also was at the practice.
No WR tougher than Maclin

Missing from action (MFA)
Simoni Lawrence signs with Birds
Lawrence worked out with the Eagles last week then mulled over his options. The Hartford Colonials last week selected Lawrence in the fifth round of the 12-round United Football League draft.
The graduate of Valley Forge Military College wanted another chance I the NFL, having been released by the St. Louis Rams.
Lawrence (6-0, 230) has his work cut out. The Eagles are loaded with linebackers similar to Lawrence. The list includes Ernie Sims, Akeem Jordan and rookie fourth-round pick Keenan Clayton.
Interestingly Lawrence ran a 4.68 40-yard dash and registered a 40-inch vertical jump at the Indianapolis scouting combine. He also benched 225 pounds 21 times.
Clayton (6-1, 229) clocked a 4.66 in the 40 at the combine, produced a 41 1-2 inch vertical and 27 reps in the bench press.
Lawrence played two years for the University of Minnesota after transferring from Valley Forge Military College. He was fourth on the team with 85 tackles last season and had eight stops for loss. He also had four pass breakups, one interception and one forced fumble.

Eagles work without top players Samuel, Jackson
Voluntary is the operative word as far as the Eagles are concerned.
While there was a report Samuel had opted out because of a death in the family, privately he had already planned to take the week off.
Jackson's absence almost certainly doesn't have anything to do with the contract extension he's seeking. He's attended all of the practices up to this week. Privately it's possible he could join the team before the end of the week.
Sidelined this week are guard Todd Herremans (foot), running back LeSean McCoy (ankle), middle linebacker Stewart Bradley (calf) and offensive tackle Fenuki Tupou (chest). The Eagles simply don't want to risk them to further injury.
Safety Kurt Coleman, the seventh-round pick out of Ohio State, still isn't back due to the conflict between the Buckeyes' graduation dates and the Eagles' camp. Coleman could really use the time to get on board with the program. At the least he's the Eagles' fourth safety right now, behind starters Quintin Mikell and rookie second round pick Nate Allen, and veteran Quintin Demps.

Four-year deals for three draft picks
Only eight of their 13 picks need deals including first-rounder Brandon Graham.
Herremans' foot sore from top to bottom
It sure didn't sound so cut-and-dry. Listening to Reid, Herremans has issues on the top and the bottom of the left foot he had surgically repaired last year.
"He's got a little pain in the arch and we've got to get it settled down," Reid said after Eagles practice Friday. "His pain before was on top of the foot. And this is on the bottom. It's more muscular than anything else. We'll just see how he does here. There's a chance he misses next week. But he'll be back and ready to go for training camp, even if he doesn.t"
Running back LeSean McCoy (ankle) and middle linebacker Stewart Bradley also sat out practice. Reid hasn't decided if either will participate in OTA's next week, the last team practices before training camp begins July 26 at Lehigh University.
"LeSean is doing OK," Reid said. "I just held him out. He tweaked it. It's a little deal there. He's all right. Stew is fine. He had like a cramp in his calf. I've just got to see how they feel. I mean, if they're OK, we'll bring them out and let them go. If not, then we'll hold them out."

Lawrence in for "just a workout"
For now it’s just a workout.
Also at Eagles practice Wednesday, middle linebacker Stewart Bradley exited holding his left leg. The Eagles are calling it just a mild strain of the calf.
Earlier in the day the Eagles agreed to terms on a four-year deal with running back Charles Scott, the sixth-round pick out of LSU. He’s the first of 13 picks in the fold.
“I’m just excited to get it done,” Scott said. “I didn’t realize I was the first guy to finish. I’m just glad to get it over with.”
Lawrence played two years for the University of Minnesota after transferring from Valley Forge Military College. He was fourth on the team with 85 tackles last season and had eight stops for loss. He also had four pass breakups, one interception and one forced fumble.
The Eagles are loaded with similarly sized linebackers including Ernie Sims, Akeem Jordan and rookie fourth round pick Keenan Clayton.
Lawrence (6-0, 221) ran a 4.68 40-yard dash and registered a 40-inch vertical jump at the Indianapolis scouting combine. He also benched 225 pounds 21 times. Clayton (6-1, 229) clocked a 4.66 in the 40, produced a 41 1-2 inch vertical and 27 reps in the bench press.
Eagles rookie money grab is on
Trust me, you don't want to be one of the last draft picks to be signed other than first-rounder Brandon Graham.
The Eagles drafted more players than any team in the recent lottery. Those 13 players are battling for the fourth-highest rookie wage pot - a svelte $6.977 million.
With the looming threat of a uniform rookie wage scale in the next Collective Bargaining Agreement, this could be the last chance for some of the draftees to cash in.

Herremans has issues with surgically repaired left foot
Herremans missed five games last year after undergoing surgery for a stress fracture in the foot. He had been golfing over the weekend and anticipated getting back into the swing of things Tuesday.
During the Tuesday Organized Team Activity held indoors, Eagles CB-FS Marlin Jackson injured his right ankle on the FieldTurf, according to the Eagles.
That was the preliminary evaluation pending X-rays.
Jackson was in considerable pain and had to be helped off the field.
